Healthcare Design

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The goal for this project is to investigate the needs of the local community (Riley County) for the areas of youth health and wellness and develop design solutions for a clinic and other potentially related health care services that address these critical issues through the adaptive reuse of space.

PROJECT INFORMATION
The Pediatric Clinic was designed in the shell of an old grocery store located near downtown Manhattan, KS. I designed a 10,000 sq ft portion of the 30,000 sq ft building for the Pediatric Clinic. The remainder of the building was split up into other services that would benefit the community based on the analysis of the site and healthcare needs of Manhattan.
Following the analysis, I wrote a program and created a schematic design that followed healthcare standards, ADA regulations, and WELL Building Standards. The concept of the Pediatric Clinic focused on energy to create a space for the patients to build strength, empowerment, excitement, and motivation during their visit.
CONCEPT
The design of the Pediatric Clinic was developed around the idea of energy and incorporating it into the clinic through the spatial layout, color and furnishings chosen. Patients will be fully energized after their experience at the Pediatric Clinic.
